Hello Family,
Blessings, love, and peace to you and your family.
Blessings, love, and peace to you and your family.
A beautiful tribute written by my sister Barbara.
I have not been looking forward to this but since it is already in the social media I need to confirm that my beloved sister and Soror Cheryl Felton (Henderson) passed away earlier today ( July 12) after a battle with long-term illness. If anyone follows her on Facebook you can see that although her health continued to decline she never stopped sharing words of love, encouragement and hope to anyone interested. She was also an author of three books, artist in quilting, baking and several other gifts. She was surrounded by family as she peacefully transitioned to her eternal home. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

The weather (seems) to be getting nicer. Nowadays, you can't really tell. One day it might be 70 degrees with sunny skies and the very next day we could have an inch or two of snow.
So that's why I said, It seems to be getting nicer. With that being said. I always know when Spring springs, because that's my wedding anniversary. On March 20th, the first day of Spring, 47 years ago my husband and I got married. Sometimes it seems like we've only been together for a few years and at other times, it seems like we were born together. All in all, it's good and getting better. That wasn't always the case, but now we are best friends. For our anniversary, I wanted to go out to a movie and dinner to celebrate. I changed my mind and thought it would be a good idea to just stay in and relax at home, since we are both so busy. I'm glad I changed my mind, to stay home and didn't make any plans, because my husband was in the bed sick on our anniversary. So, on our anniversary I was taking him gingerale and and warming up Campbell's low sodium chicken noodle soup. I caught up on some of my work that I needed to do on line and he slept the day away. He's still not 100%, but he went out yesterday for a few hours. As I type he is asleep, getting his rest, so he can get back into his groove. Say a prayer that it won't be many more days. Thank you. A few weeks ago I said I would try to post pictures of some of the things that I had been up to, while away from you. Here they are. This is a picture of two of my grandchildren in Mellon Park playing Scrabble, laughing and enjoying each other's company. I packed a lunch and picked them up. We had a great time! Me at the wedding shower. Everyone got to guess how many Kisses were in the jar. I guessed 450 and came the closest to the number. My prize was this giant jar of assorted Kisses. The shower was fun, the food good and plentiful. The Pastor had a Photo Challenge this summer with a monthly theme. Each month the participants submitted a photo based on the theme. In August the theme was, "Where do you experience God's healing." My picture is a collage of pictures of the food that I prepared. My message was, I experience God's healing when I eat the foods that God created for us to eat. During the lockdown of the pandemic my husband and I worked on puzzles almost daily. We don't work on them a lot, but still do. This is one that was done over the summer. The puzzle is called Sky Roads and it was 1,000 pieces. On the level of difficulty, for me it was extremely difficult. A picture of my husband, Fred and I. We attended a beautiful outdoor wedding of a friend. We had a good time. I know I did, because I got to dance and dance. Dancing is one of my favorite things to do. Whatever you do in life, do your best to enjoy it. Enjoy your life, your activities, work, family and friends. ENJOY LIFE!
On March 20, the first day of Spring, my husband, Fred and I celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary. He surprised me and had 45 roses delivered to my job. It was a wonderful surprise.
We've had ups and downs, as you probably guessed, but some fun and laughter too. When you are married you are going to have to work on the marriage (relationship). It's not going to just happen . I wish you well. Hang in there, desire what's good for your spouse, but also what's good for you. Another person is not responsible for your happiness, you are. Blessings & Love, Darlene On Thursday, Kim our daughter received the Woman of Excellence award, from the Pittsburgh Courier. Valarie McDonald Roberts was honored, along with 49 other women. Kim and her husband, Allan Person of Excellence Are you a person of excellence? Do you do things just to get finished with whatever you are doing?
I think, if you are putting your time and energy into something, you might as well make it your best. Making it your best doesn't mean that you won't make mistakes, because you absolutely will. Doing your best is giving it your best shot. Sometimes you may have more energy, you may have had eight hours of sleep, you had a chance to eat a meal and have positive energy around you. Sometimes, some or all of these may be missing. What you produce will be based on what you can give. Regardless, of the circumstances do your best and be a person of excellence.
