To be set free from the noise and chatter That has invaded you Telling you It’s too much I can’t take it anymore I’m tired I need a break I can’t do this I can’t do this alone anymore I’ve had enough I’m the poorest person in the group My house is the worst looking house on the block I don’t have enough I think I should remove myself from the equation Then, everybody would be better off without me I’m the problem I’m the hold up I think I’m losing my mind I really don’t want to hurt anyone, Things are just spinning out of control I don’t know what to do I wish I could…. How do I stop the noise? How do I stop the chatter? Stop Acknowledge the mind storm Sit Close your eyes Breathe deeply Inhale through your nose Exhale through your mouth You determine how long you need to sit and breathe One minute, ten, an hour, or a day Take the time Sit, breathe, relax your mind and your body Once you’re relaxed and calm enough Go about your day If need to find other things that will relax you Listen to some music, pray, Read a good uplifting book or the Bible, Cook, bake, sew, sing, dance, go fishing, Call someone that you know will support you, Work in your garden, take a walk, exercise, Get a hot or cold drink, take a shower, take a nap, Draw, color, write Do something that will get you over and through this state Get a good night’s sleep When you wake up, repeat if necessary For as many times as you need to If you think you need counseling, Please get counseling right away Be important to yourself Do something every day For you only, to make you smile To make you free Copyright © Darlene Burgess Davis I said to myself, self what do you want to be when you grow up? I said to myself, self we are going to start on our journey for good health tomorrow, eating more fruits and vegetables, cutting back on the carbs and sugar and exercising at least 15 minutes a day. Self said to me, you said that five years ago, three years ago, a year ago even last week. What are you waiting for? I said to myself, self we are going to learn a new language. Self said to me. Self said to me, I thought you were going to do that last month. What are you waiting for? I said to myself, self I’m not going to take anymore mistreatment. Self said to me, you already said that too. What are you waiting for? I said to myself, sefl we really have to be more productive and use our time wisely. Self said to me, didn’t you say that five hours ago before you turned on the computer. What are you waiting for? I said to myself, self I'm going to get on top of things right now. Being what I'm supposed to be, starting my journey for excellent health, learning that new language, asking for the promotion, not taking any abusive treatment, mental, physical or verbal and use my time wisely. When we are told no, And no and no again. You can’t do that. We’ve never done it like that. As a matter of fact, I’ve never heard of that before. It can’t be done. We rise up, When we have our goals And mission in life in front of us. We rise up, When we see our vision And look at our vision board every day. We rise up, When our dreams Are just as real during the day As they are at night. We rise up, When not only do we see our aspirations, But we can taste them as well. We rise up, When we know nothing is impossible. We rise up, When we remember that Miracles are happening all around us Every single day. We rise up, Because we know Without a vision we will perish. We rise up, When we realize That we need to ask and receive, But hard work is a part of the equation, also. We rise up, When we work Beyond our own doubt And the doubt and criticism of others.
